I love India. It's such a place of contrasts. This was taken in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in the old city. I wanted to stop this cow and ask how much for the necklace it was wearing. Take care now.

Stepwell in Adalaj
Stepwells are unique medieval water buildings. We visited one in the village of Adalaj, close to the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Imagine an area the size of a football pitch quarried down to a depth of some two hundred feet. The well at the bottom converted to a swimming pool and water source with hundreds of intricate carved steps leading down.
Built in 1499 by a Muslim king this one is intricately carved and is five stories in depth and provided basic water needs for drinking, washing and bathing. How on Earth this has not been awarded World Heritage status is totally beyond me.

Wedding Party in India
Well here we are somewhere on the road between Ahmedabad and Jamnagar in Gujrat, North west India. It was really strange to be the centre of attention! The people here don't see that many tourists so practically the whole of this wedding party on a coach wanted us to have our photograph taken with them!
Really nice, generous people and a lovely, fascinating country
Take care now and have a great Christmas and New Year wherever you are.

Asiatic Lion, Gujarat
This juvenile Asiatic Lion male is walking through the woodlands in the Gir National Park, Gujarat, India. The park is the only area in the world where lions still live in the wild outside of Africa and is a major success with over 700 animals now living in some nineteen prides.
