New One Brochure for Un-Cruise Adventures.

Travelers seeking Un-Cruise Adventures may now reach for one brochure detailing InnerSea Discoveries’ Active Adventures and American Safari Cruises’ Luxury and Heritage Adventures. The first combined Un-Cruise Adventures brochure begins arriving on doorsteps this week.
The 72-page brochure details Un-Cruise Adventures in Southeast Alaska, Mexico’s Sea of Cortés, the Hawaiian Islands, Columbia and Snake Rivers, and Coastal Washington and British Columbia. Three styles of adventure cruises are available on four yachts and three expedition vessels carrying 22-88 guests. The brochure covers adventures from November 2012 through April 2014.
“With additional boats added to our fleet, we’ve been able to diversify our offerings,” said Tim Jacox, executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We now have three different adventure styles—luxury, active and heritage—but as Un-Cruise Adventures, they share the common thread of an enriching adventure travel experience.”
Active Adventures
Active Adventure cruises focus on adventure activities outside such as trekking, kayaking, paddle boarding and skiff excursions. Activity levels vary from shore walks to all day hikes or kayaking excursions. Offered at a moderate price point, meals and activities are included. Massage, alcohol and port fees/taxes are extra.
Three expedition vessels—60 -guest Wilderness Adventurer, 76-guest Wilderness Explorer and Wilderness Discoverer—sail active adventure cruises in Southeast Alaska from May through September. The Wilderness Explorer will sail its first season in the Hawaiian Islands beginning November 2013 through April 2014.
Luxury Adventures
Luxury Adventure cruises are more inclusive and combine soft adventure activities with extra amenities and comforts on board. Voyages in five un-cruise destinations include all meals; premium brand spirits, fine wines and microbrews; activities and port fees/taxes. A massage is also included on the Safari Explorer and Safari Endeavour.
Three yachts—22-guest Safari Quest, 36-guest Safari Explorer and 86-guest Safari Endeavour—offer luxury adventure cruises. All three boats sail in Southeast Alaska from May through September. The Safari Endeavour sails in Mexico’s Sea of Cortés from November through April. The Safari Explorer sails in the Hawaiian Islands from November through April. The Safari Quest sails a Coastal Washington and British Columbia itinerary in spring and fall.
Heritage Adventures
History is brought to life on board and ashore on a Heritage Adventure cruise. Guest presenters, character reenactments and shore tours highlight history along the way and on board Legacy Leaders guide the journey. The Safari Legacy joins the fleet in mid-August 2013 for two 11-night Gold Rush Legacy cruises in Southeast Alaska. In fall and spring, the boat sails weeklong Legacy of Discovery cruises along the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Cruise fare includes all meals; premium brand spirits, fine wines and microbrews; activities; one massage and port fees/taxes.

G Adventures upgrades Galapagos Fleet

G Adventures has one of the highest quality operations in the Galapagos and is upgrading its fleet for 2013 with the acquisition of three 16-passenger motor yachts, the Daphne ‘G3’, the San Jose ‘G5’, and the Queen of Galapagos, ‘G8’. The company will be adding additional vessels in the coming months as it makes room for further growth.
Jeff Russill, VP of Innovation, G Adventures, says the upgrades have been made to provide an improved customer experience and to future-proof the fleet ahead of further customer demand and new regulations.
“Our new vessels have larger and more comfortable public spaces and will be heavily focussed on the customer experience, offering the best wildlife viewing and the onboard service. Leading with service is one of our core values and these upgrades mean we can deliver on that promise and keep prices affordable.
“Additionally there have been, and will continue to be, changes made to Galapagos regulations, so we’re also ensuring the future viability of our fleet,” says Russill.
Each of the new vessels caters to a slightly different market; the G3 is the most affordable standard-level option, the G5 is a comfort-level vessel and the G8 provides an even more deluxe experience.
G Adventures will continue to use its Javier ‘G4’ comfort-level vessel, a firm customer favourite, meaning the fleet will be made up of four vessels in 2013.
G Adventures’ operation in the Galapagos is unique as the company only books customers on its own vessels. This means they travel with other G Adventures’ travellers and have a complete G Adventures experience. The company operates and staffs the vessels and employs its own naturalist guides, all of whom understand the G Adventures core values and our customers’ expectations.
Current vessels will maintain operations as per the normal G Adventures high quality service until the end of the year when the G3, G5 and G8 will take over operations.
Itineraries for the three new vessels include:
  • A six-day Voyage Galapagos – South Islands standard-level trip onboard the Daphne ‘G3’ is priced from £1,249pp from Quito return for departures from September to November 2012 and January to April 2013.
  • A seven-day Voyage Galapagos – South Islands comfort-level trip onboard the San Jose ‘G5’ is priced from £1,649pp from Quito return for departures from January 2013 year-round.

More Cruises to visit the Inner Hebrides

The innovative Argyll cruise company, The Majestic Line, is increasing its small boat cruises to the Inner Hebrides as a result of popular demand. Guests of The Majestic Line have shown a strong preference for this area of unspoilt natural beauty, rich in history, culture and wildlife and demand is continuing to grow.
Sales Manager, Marie Thomas believes that visitors have a romantic association with the Islands of the Inner Hebrides, “our cruises to the Islands of Mull and Skye are sold out before the season has even started and our Southern Hebrides cruise to Jura, Gigha and Colonsay also books out very early. We always try to respond to positively to our guests and so are more than happy to increase the number of our cruises to these iconic places for 2013.”
The family run company, now in its eighth operating season has so far escaped the effects of the economic downturn, despite being an exclusive holiday choice aimed at the higher end of the market.
Andy Thoms, Director said, “so far, we have been fortunate not to feel the effects of the recession, mainly due to a very loyal clientele. Word of mouth recommendation and repeat guests are at the heart of our success, with some guests cruising with us up to eight times.”
However, the company is very aware that times are getting tough in the tourism industry and is not complacent. They have recently streamlined the business to make savings to ensure no price increase for their cruises in 2013. This included moving the Sales Team from Edinburgh to join the Operations Team in Holy Loch Marina in Argyll which will allow closer communication with guests and support for the new cruises to the Inner Hebrides. The Majestic Line 2013 brochure is now available at www.themajesticline.co.uk

Sailing between Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska and reverse, weeklong un-cruise adventures depart on June 8, July 13 and August 10, 2013. A regional expert sails aboard each cruise to share knowledge of the area’s ecology, history and culture.
With the expedition vessel’s capacity reduced from 60 to 36 guests, adventure activities get kicked up into high gear. The line recommends that guests choosing this departure regularly engage in physical activity equal to a 25 mile bike ride or 5 mile run/hike.
Areas explored include Misty Fjords National Monument, Revillagigedo Island, Behm Canal, Thomas Bay, Baird Glacier, Frederick Sound, Stephen’s Passage, Windham Bay, Fords Terror Wilderness and Tracy Arm.
Excursions are included and led by expedition guides. Guests can choose to be as active as they wish each day with activities such as kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding and snorkeling. Skiff excursions will explore shoreline and seek out wildlife. Whale watching and up close encounters with wildlife are highlights of each trip.

On Alaska Unleashed adventures, guests can enjoy more extended excursions such as kayaking into the furthest reaches of Misty Fjords, hiking Cascade Creek trail to Swan Lake in Thomas Bay and the spectacular multi-sport adventure of Patterson Lake—11-mile roundtrip trek with 6 miles of kayaking to and from the face of Patterson Glacier.
Shipboard amenities include complimentary on-deck yoga classes, hot tub, fitness equipment and a large resource and DVD library. Especially for the Unleashed adventures, a professional masseuse offers each guest a complimentary massage during the week to ease sore muscles and promote relaxation. An underwater camera mounted on the ship’s bow streams video from the underwater world to flatscreen televisions in all guest rooms and the lounge. Healthy and hearty meals feature fresh ingredients including locally caught Alaskan seafood. A 2-1 guest to crew ratio for these three departures ensures attentive service and extra guide staff.
Cruise fares start at US$5,995 per person based on double occupancy. Cruise rates include transfers and all activities except optional excursions. Port fees of US$175 per person per week, spirits and gratuities are extra. Caribbean Under sail with Lindblad Expeditions

For well traveled explorers who want to discover the Caribbean by sea there is not a ship afloat that can match the Sea Cloud’s ambience, illustrious history or the experience she offers. New for 2013 Lindblad Expeditions will introduce three 8 day/7 night departures through the Lesser Antilles on this legendary vessel, on February 28, March 7 and March 14, 2013.
The world’s most elegant square-rigged tall ship carries just 58 guests. The Sea Cloud flies 30 sails, hoisted the old-fashioned way — by hand. This romantic tall ship was built in 1931 by Wall Street businessman E. F. Hutton for his wife, Marjorie Merriweather Post. Offering an incomparable mix of sophistication, fine service and informality, it is the epitome of barefoot elegance.
The week-long voyage will explore the “Nature Island” of Dominica, the French-infused cultures of Iles des Saintes, the renowned landscapes of St. Lucia, and the idyllic Grenadines. As the Sea Cloud visits colonial towns, historic forts and botanical gardens, guests will discover a surprising mosaic of French, Dutch, English and Spanish, who all left an indelible imprint on the historic culture and architecture. For those interested in the undersea, there will be several opportunities to learn about reef ecology, and to snorkel among colorful corals and tropical fish in the marine reserve of the Tobago Cays and the idyllic Grenadines.
During the voyage, Lindblad – National Geographic’s exemplary staff will illuminate and navigate these cultures, both historic and contemporary, through the expertise of veteran expedition leader Tom O’Brien; Naturalist Albert Montaudon, a biologist by training, conservationist by passion and a Lindblad-National Geographic certified photo instructor; and historian Thomas Heffernan, an expert on Caribbean history and languages. Also joining on the March 14th voyage is Kenny Broad, a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and an environmental anthropologist who dives in some of the world’s most challenging underwater caves on scientific missions.
Guests embark and disembark the Sea Cloud in Barbados. Rates begin at $6,990 per person based on double occupancy in a category 1 cabin. For more information or to book your Lindblad Expeditions experience today, visit www.expeditions.com, call 1-800-EXPEDITION or call your travel agent.
