C.S.Lowry
The artist C.S.Lowry would often come to Berwick and the town has a Lowry trail where you will find information boards like this one. Each board has a painting on it and you can stand whee he stood to paint the picture. Have a good day. I'm teaching 7 year olds all day, deep joy.

The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is a really strange place. You can only swim breast stroke or move as if you were cycling as the salts will sting your eyes something terrible. I loved putting my ears under the water and just floating in the silence. Have a great day now.

Rennes, Medieval Architecture
Welcome to Rennes, Brittany. Shame about the sky being so grey but I'll put some blue in later on when I get around to editing. Aren't these medieval buildings amazing? Well I hope you're all well and looking after yourselves. Got a meeting this p.m. to discuss the programme for a concert we're having in the village on Saturday and then it's The History society AGM. Who needs Monte Carlo!!

Seafood stall, Nantes
Here we are in Nantes, Brittany. The thing I love about the French is their markets so much better than ours and what a joy to walk around. Well it's a day of studying VERY closely the style of the Sunday Telegraph travel pages and make sure I get it exactly right so they publish my piece on Norway. Hope you are all well and life is treating you OK. It's also a day of not eating biscuits to try and get rid of the 5 lbs I gained last week!

Away for a week
Hello everyone. I won't be posting now until Monday 20th of September as I'm away on a trip. Here's a picture of the world's best ice cream parlour in Cagliari, Sardinia.
Take care now.

Maggie on the Bass
This is Maggie Sheddan the guide on the Bass Rock. She has rescued this abandoned gannet chick which was being pecked by the other adult birds around it. The chick will be taken and fed until it is strong enough to return to the water and fend for itself.
Hope you're all well. I have an invitation to go to Gujerat in India in November on a job so I'm rather excited!
Take care now.

Cardigan Bay, Aberysytwyth
Well here we are in Cardigan Bay. In Aberystwyth to be precise. Great walking country along the cliff as you can see them disappearing in the distance. Got some nice commissions yesterday so today I am trying to figure out how Twitter can be used in conjunction with this blog as a business tool. Derrrrrr..... should be fun.

Inside Sea Cave, Fair Isle
This is on a zodiac inside a sea cave on Fair Isle. We actually went about sixty yards in and I was getting a bit apprehensive towards the end as the swell was starting to lift us up to the roof. Here though as you can see it was quite calm.
Have a great day even if it's pouring like it is in Northumberland!

Take care now and ihope all goes well for you today.

Approaching Martinique.
The bow at dawn as we approach Martinique. Look at that lovely light on the sails. I had just spent twenty minutes lying on the "widowmaker", the net under the bowsprit photographing the dolphins riding the bow wave. Hope all's well with you wherever you are. Just been out on my bike looking for the big cat again at 6 a.m. as dawn broke. Another sighting was reported at Adderstone, about a mile away. So who knows!

Shetland
This is what a Arctic Skua looks like when it's coming straight at you. This one was on Mousa in the Shetlands and was dive bombing us to protect its chicks. At one point it even landed near us and pretended to have a broken wing to attract us away from the nest. I knew Lapwingsdo that but I didn't realise Skuas did as well.
Busy day today producing PDFs as my features library has had some interest from magazines about my work. Also got a meeting with the school about a computer course I'm running at the village night classes. Take care now.

Iceland
Welcome to Iceland, such a marvellous place. These are the volcanic mud pools bubbling away at Hevri. I just love the smell of sulphur here surrounded by snow capped mountains. 6 a.m. just going to take Doris for a walk. Always have my camera with me now since I saw the black cat on Monday morning. It's amazing after I was on Radio Newcastle how many other people have seen them as well. Three people in Belford have reported it too and all of us never said anything for fear of ridicule!

The Bass Rock
Here we are off the Bass Rock the worlds largest gannetry with 150,000 birds and that's not counting the gulls and puffins. When you land it's quite an amazing site to be so close to them, no more than a yard away. I'll put some images on facebook later on . Anyway a day now of cataloguing images and sorting them out for which pitch to which magazine etc.
Have a great day wherever you are.
