  • Join a working conservation project on a journey across the Northern Atlantic covering 1,250 miles.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a working conservation voyage. The species the skipper hopes to encounter are Sperm Whales, Orcas, Bottlenose Whales, Pilot Whales and numerous species of dolphins. The skipper on board will be Rodrigo Olsen - a charming and fascinating whale expert from Baja who has covered almost 300,000 nautical miles on sailing boats, in search of some of the world's most elusive whale species. Rodrigo will be joined by first mate Jesse Horton and Belinda Braithwaite who will be filming the trip and be on hand to help you with your own photography and film making.

While on board you will be involved in all manoeuvres of sailing as well as with the research on board. Ideal for novice and experienced sailors alike this is the perfect trip for those wanting to gain experience of sailing in high latitudes and those with a passion for wild places, whales and dolphins.

Burma, Vietnam and Cambodia with Pandaw River Expeditions

Operating a fleet of 12 luxurious vessels in Burma, Vietnam and Cambodia, Pandaw River Expeditions explore destinations still largely undiscovered by the European traveller with many areas only accessible by river.  The elegant vessels are designed with the shallowest drafts on the rivers, allowing them the access parts of the Irrawaddy and Chindwin Rivers in Burma and the Mekong River through Cambodia and Vietnam that other ships aren’t always able to reach.

Finished in hand-crafted teak and brass, the unique vessels are designed as replicas of the original colonial river steamers and offer the highest ratio of space to passengers of any ships, sea going or river, with a crew to passenger ratio of 2:1.  The five ships explore the furthest parts of three of the great South-East Asian Rivers: the Mekong, Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers.

Every Pandaw river expedition includes a superb range of intrepid shore excursions to local - and often inaccessible - communities, and all shore excursions are included within the expedition price, as well as a range of locally sourced and international food, all drinks and gratuities.  Guests are able to dine in open-air dining rooms on deck on most expeditions and in the evening enjoy cultural performances from local performers and musicians.

Pandaw’s diverse range of itineraries span three and four night expeditions between Phnom Penh and Saigon, to 20 day expeditions through the remotest parts of Burma, and with seasonal conditions of the rivers altering river depths and conditions, no two itineraries are ever the same.  On the new Kalay Pandaw, the impossibly shallow draft of less than 75cm allows the Kalay to venture hundreds of miles further north along the Irrawaddy than any other cruise ship, exploring many destinations inaccessible by land.

Pandaw operates cruises in Burma, Vietnam and Cambodia from June to April.

Seven-night Mekong cruises from £1,095 per person based on two people sharing, including all food and drink, gratuities and all shore excursions.
