Guests on board AmaWaterways’ luxury river cruiser AmaLyra will have the opportunity to mingle with former MP, novelist and TV presenter, Ann Widdecombe, when she joins the ship for a week long Rhine cruise on 15th October 2013.
Miss Widdecombe, who is a former British Conservative Party politician, retired from politics in 2010. She now writes a weekly column for a national newspaper, makes regular appearances on radio and TV and famously appeared on BBC 1’s `Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2010, partnered by Anton du Beke.
She will accompany guests on board the luxurious 148-guest river cruiser, AmaLyra, for the week long sailing, during which she will make two presentations about her life and her career, join fellow guests on hosted shore excursions and offer them the opportunity to obtain signed copies of her books.
A keen fan of cruising, this is Miss Widdecombe’s first Rhine cruise and something she has wanted to do for some time, she said “I very much look forward to the tranquillity of river cruising and this fascinating sailing will provide the opportunity combine some spectacular scenic sightseeing with visits to some of Europe’s most historic towns and cities”.
Guests join the ship in Amsterdam on 15th October 2013 where they have the opportunity to take a canal and city tour. The cruise follows the Rhine into Germany to visit the city of Cologne, continuing on through the Rhine Gorge to Rudesheim and the medieval town of Strasbourg and on through the Black Forest region and to Basel in Switzerland.
The 7 night sailing costs from £1975 per person, including return flights from London, arrival transfers, all meals, complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks with dinner, daily guided tours and excursions, free wi-fi and free use of on board bicycles. Guests booking by 30th November 2012 receive a £50pp discount.
