Ross sands, Northumberland.

Hello it's a bank Holiday weekend here in UK so I wont be blogging again until Tuesday. This is Ross sands opposite Holy Island in Northumberland. Have a great time yourself!!

Lobster potting

A recent visitor survey showed that 98% of visitors to Northumberland said they loved the scenery, serenity, the castles and activities. What they were disappointed with was the shopping and food and drink.

This picture was taken about a mile off shore from Amble in Northumberland. We have a wonderful array of seafood that annoyingly often disappears off to Spain and other Meditterreaan countries to fee the hoards of toursits each summer.

Northumberland’s seafood is known to be amongst the best in the country. Lobsters, flatfish, oysters, crab you simply can’t beat it. The noble kipper has graced countless breakfast tables across the world and Seahouses folk will proudly tell you that it all happened because of a fire in a herring shed in the village!

Morpeth Clock Tower

One of the most fascinating thngs about Northumberland is Morpeth’s clock tower, which stands at the entrance to Oldgate, and is a rare example of a freestanding bell tower, one of only three built. Originally built as a jail, the town stocks were in front of it. For many years it had a clock with only one pointer and until recently the curfew bell was still sounded at 8 o'clock each evening.

Warkworth, Northumberland

Every time I visit Warkworth here in Northumberland I'm struck by the fact that it doesn’t really seem to have made up its mind whether it’s a village with castle or castle with a village. All you can say is that trapped as it is within a meander of the River Coquet it still has a very medieval feel to it that has been lost in so many other Northeast villages. I took this shot for the castle's keep.

Rocks above Craster

I've always liked this shot of rocks on the shore below Dunstanburgh Castle walking up from Craster. I just think the way the sea has drastically changed the colours is quite amazing. Have a good day.

Llamas in Northumberland

Not taken in the Andes but in the hamlet of Detchant just down the road from us. The farmer uses them for keeping the foxes away from his free range chickens. Enjoy your day now.

Bread

Belford Village, Northumberland

This is the view of our village from the top of the church tower. It doesn't look like this today! Wet and miserable and quite cold. I hope it's warmer where you are.

Belford Show day

South Pacific Sailing

What cheeses me off about this job sometimes. even though I love it, is when it's pouring down in Northumberland and I'm writing about lucky so and sos cruising on a tall ship in the South Pacific.
